Sandra Phillips, Scholarship Chairman 2010-2012

The Scholarship Committee administers a number of GFWC/Iowa Scholarships for use
in Iowa schools. Winners must be enrolled in the fall term of the year in which the scholarship is awarded. These
awards are based on the amount of money contributed by clubs and the proceeds from special fundraising efforst and interest
from investments on permanent and memorial scholarships. Scholarship application packets are mailed to each club president
by October of every year. It is the responsibility of the club to promote the scholarship program by working directly
with their local schools to secure qualified applicants. Completed scholarship applications are mailed to GFWC/Iowa
District Scholarship Chairmen.
Music campships are also awarded through the scholarship program.
The application deadline is March 1st of each year.

Attention: All Club Presidents and Club Scholarship Chairmen
Sandra Phillips, Scholarship Chairman
The GFWC/Iowa Scholarship Packets will be sent out to each club president in October. Be sure to review the
packets carefully; fill in the club information on the bottom of the Letter to the High School Guidance Counselor and on the
back of the Scholarship Application. It is important that a club member writing the letter of recommendation for a student
include the name of the sponsoring club. The deadline for the student.s applications to the District Scholarship Chairmen
is March 1st. Please get the information to your local schools as soon as possible and encourage the Counselors to inform
the students of these scholarship opportunities. GFWC/Iowa has a long and proud history of supporting our youth by providing
scholarships for those wishing to further their educations. We thank you for your support and ask that you continue to support
these scholarships through donations and purchases from the scholarship sales tables at the district and state conventions.
